Pregnancy

Question:

I am pregnant about 5 or 6 weeks and am on the SCD diet for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  Do you think it is okay to stay on the diet during my pregnancy as well, or wil I be missing any nutrients?

I have answered that question one zillion times.  Please have Heather answer it, she is pregnant and her OB gave her a hard time and wanted her to eat grains.  She did and I do not think the outcome was happy. But I can assure you if you take the whole family of B vitamins as in my book with a few extra mcg (micrograms of folic acid) you will have the most nutritious diet in the whole wide world.  All our SCD babies were great and the pregnancies were normal - no toxemia.  But you must concentrate on eating lots of legal carbohydrates along with protein and fat. Otherwise the baby will be healthy but may be a bit smaller. It does not always happen but has happened once or twice.
